A REMARKABLE SHIDDUCH IN CRISIS

* Yosel’s father Richard was born in a small French town where he was brought up in a totally secular environment devoid of anything remotely connected to Yiddishkeit.

Richard discovered Yiddishkeit at age 34 through exceptional circumstances (see The Story below). Now renamed Velvel, he married Miri, herself a baalas teshuva, and they together raised a true heimishe family al tahars hakodesh.

Velvel and Miri put in tremendous efforts to provide their children with superior yiddishe chinuch but they lacked a heimishe environment and they therefore left their secure home and job, moving to England where they work hard to eke out a living for their family.

Velvel’s eldest son Yosel was a rare budding genius, already at the age of 11, he had authored a remarkable sefer containing in-depth chidushei Torah. His ehrlichkeit and sterling middos was always exceptional. In fact, before his bar mitzva he was sent to a reputable yeshivah in Eretz Yisroel where the standard was high enough for his razor-sharp brains! He was b"h very successful in his learning and is now a fully accomplished talmid chochom.

Yosel became engaged to a wonderful girl from Yerushulayim whose parents are also baalei teshuva. Velvel is however so stressed out about the chasuna expenses, that he is literally eaten up by anxiety and the shidduch is ch"v on the verge of breaking off.

Let’s help this special family who sacrificed so much with exceptional mesiras nefesh. Let’s enable them to marry off Yosel and bring him under the chupa stress-free.

Please help us raise $50,000 for this very special simcha to take place and we thank you in anticipation of your generous contribution.

This campaign is endorsed by the Koidenover Rebbe Shlita (Bnei Brak) and Harav Hatzadik Rabbi Shmuel Binyomin Krausz Shlita (London).

THE STORY

How Velvel Discovered Yiddishkeit

As a young teen Velvel began to lament the void in his hollow, meaningless life, which only felt emptier and emptier throughout his adolescence and adulthood. When he contracted Hepatitis at age 34 he hit rock bottom.

Or so he thought…

Adjacent to Velvel’s town there lived a tzadik whose home was the address for many troubled yidden. The tzadik would listen to any distressed individual and share their pain as though it was his own, as if he had never experienced graver pain, appalling horrors, in the hell of Auschwitz. He would clasp the fellow’s hand, and cry along with him. And then the mofsim would follow.

And it was this tzadik who Velvel first met late at night back in 1994. He had somehow heard about him through the grapevine and stumbled into his home in desperation. Despite Velvel’s bare head and overgrown pony-tail, the tzadik had graciously invited him in with his trademark sincere eyes and gentle touch. His warm gaze pierced through Velvel’s tough exterior to the sensitive Jewish heart pulsing inside, and soon Velvel found himself pouring out his troubled soul, describing his questions and doubts that tormented him and gave him no peace. He concluded with his Hepatitis diagnosis, which the doctors had given up hope on.

The tzadik gently asked him if he knew any yidden. Velvel replied that he didn’t and that he in fact worked in a theater and had never stepped into a shul!

So the tzadik invited him into his home every day over the next four weeks where he was fed with special nourishing food, love, and care, to strengthen him. Velvel shaved off his ponytail and accompanied the tzadik to shul every day. This enabled Velvel’s health to improve and his religion to beckon.

And then, the unbelievable happened. At his next visit to the doctor, they were amazed to see that he was totally out of the danger zone! Well, no surprise there for the local community who were already used to these incredible mofsim connected to the tzadik.

A Promise is Redeemed

Eager to find a shidduch Velvel enlisted the tzadik’s help, to which the reply was that he should first learn Torah for 2 years after which he would be introduced to a suitable shidduch.

In the meantime, a secular Jewish lady approached the tzadik seeking help that her daughter Miri should emerge from her deep depression. And as Miri began to heal, she would occasionally pop in to the tzadik for bursts of chizuk. Eventually she recovered and embraced yiddishkeit under the tzadik’s influence.

When Velvel completed his two years of limud Torah he approached the tzadik with a reminder of the shidduch request. But the tzadik hadn’t forgotten! He had the perfect shidduch waiting for him. Velvel and Miri celebrated their engagement joyfully, followed by their marriage, which the tzadik had arranged from A to Z. And the guidance continued through every step of their lives, including his assistance in raising their children and guiding Velvel to become a respected magid shiur and to raise a true heimishe family al taharas hokodesh.

The Tzadik Smiles from Above

When the tzadik zt”l was nifter Velvel and Miri sadly lost their surrogate father. They however took tremendous comfort in the fact that their beloved patriarch was still looking after them. For hadn’t their son Yosel celebrated his engagement, on the very night of the tzadik’s first yortzeit?!
