Dear Friends,

I stand mere days before the chuppah of my dear daughter, the seventh of 15 children k'ah.  My heart should be filled with joy and anticipation at this momentous occasion, but instead it is marred by fear and worry as looming bills and mounting debts  continue to pile up.

In a short span of time my wife and I were zoche to marry off 6 children one after the other. The minimum monthly expenses of feeding and clothing  a family of our size is overwhelming enough. Add to this the enormous sums of money needed to marry off our children has  left me drowning in debt.

My family makes do with the bare minimum but the basic necessities of marrying off a child has forced us to go way beyond our modest  budget. The date of my daughter’s wedding is approaching. The bills are piling up and I do not have the means to cover them.

I am turning to you, a father pleading for his child, help us in our hour of need. Your generosity will enable us to lead our daughter to the chuppah with joy and hope.

May the merit of the great mitzvah of hachnosos kallah stand in your stead.

פונה אני בזה אליך בבקשה מעומק לבי, בהיות וזכיתי ובביתי 17 נפשות בלע"ה, וב"ה כבר חיתנתי ששה מצאצאי שיחיו, ובעוד זמן קצר עומד אני בעז"ה להשיא את בתי השביעית בלע"ה.

אין מן הצורך להסביר לכם, שלהחזיק בית בסדר גדול שכזה, אך ורק עבור ההוצאות השוטפות (אוכל, ביגוד, שכר לימוד וכו') מסתכם לסכום גדול מידי חודש בחדשו, ובודאי כאשר מתווספים לכך ההוצאות הגדולות של נישואי ילדיי שיחיו בשנים האחרונות, אשר כל אלו הותירו אותי בחובות גדולים מאד.

ב"ה אשר בני ביתי אינם הולכים בגדולות ובנפלאות מהם ומסתפקים במועט שבמועט, אך מה אעשה והוצאות הנישואין המינימליים מסתכמים כיום להון רב, ולדאבון לבי אין בידי פרוטה לפורטה, ומועד נישואי בתי תחי' הולך וקרב, ועדיין אין בידי מאומה.

לזאת פונה אני בזה אליך בבקשה דחופה לסייע בידי בסכומים נכבדים, כדי שאוכל בעז"ה להוביל את בתי תחי' לחופתה, לפחות במינימום המוכרח ממש, ובכך תהיו שותפים בבניין חורבה אחת מחורבות ירושלים (ברכות ו:).
