Frum Family Evicted-Soon To Be Homeless

After a 2-year legal battle, a frum family with two small children has been evicted from their home by the wife’s stepmother and will soon be homeless.

The wife’s father owned a duplex and allowed the family to live in the upstairs unit and repeatedly voiced his gratitude that he was able to provide a home for them considering they are low income and cannot afford to pay rent elsewhere.

Unfortunately, 3-years ago the father was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer and was given 6 months to live, and in the rush to settle all of his legal affairs his wishes to allow his daughter and her family to continue to reside in the duplex were not included in the will.

In the years following his death, the stepmother has fought to evict the family from their home. Additionally, she has repeatedly harassed them by calling the police and fire departments for false and dangerous accusations, all of which have been unfounded, and has been pouring her urine on their property.

Since the will did not include the father’s wishes for his daughter and her family to reside in their home following his death, a Judge has ruled that they must move out sometime within the next two weeks.

We are requesting $10,000 to cover a deposit on an apartment as well as a couple months of rent, moving fees, attorney fees, and therapy for the 6-year old daughter who has been deeply traumatized by this experience.

We have chosen not to include a picture of the family for privacy purposes as they are active members of the community and have posted a picture of the duplex instead.
