Forshay Community Mikvah Expansion Project
The Forshay neighborhood Mikvah Nashim is a community Mikvah operated by the Mikvah of Rockland County. The Mikvah has the distinction of being one of the very first Shabbos and Yom Tov Mikvahs to be built in Rockland County.
After 25 years of use and due to the Mikvah’s increased usage as the community has grown, it was time to repair, expand, and beautify the Mikvah as befitting its lofty purpose and the esteemed women of our community.
With the endorsement of all the Rabbonim of the neighborhood, the Mikvah Expansion Project began almost one year ago. It included adding a waiting area, as there was not one previously; additional preparation rooms; and air conditioning. The fixtures and interior of the Mikvah are being updated and modernized, and a new otzar for the collection of additional rain water has also been built.
The total cost of this project is approximately $198,000. To date, 75% of the project cost was raised from a group of individuals who stepped forward to make the Mikvah Expansion Project a reality. We need to raise the remaining $49,500 to complete the project. Our goal is to raise the remaining funds by Shavuos, so the project can be completed shortly thereafter.
