The members of the RNSP work tirelessly, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for our community. Our highly trained volunteers patrol the streets day and night to spot and stop crime.

 

RNSP members respond to over 1,500 calls a year!  In 2018 alone, the RNSP was involved in getting 6 guns off our streets, moving our total up to 26! We aided in the arrests of 37 people and our Search and Rescue Team assisted in 52 missing person searches. The RNSP Tech Squad reviewed over 2,500 hours of footage from security cameras, and our rapid response team saved 27 children locked in cars or houses  In addition to this, RNSP volunteers provided security services and assisted with traffic control at over 100 community events.

 

In 2018, our 24 Hour Hotline received over 2,000 calls. Our dedicated dispatchers dispatched RNSP Rapid Response Team members to a variety of calls including but not limited to suspicious persons, package thefts, car break-ins, car and house lockouts involving children, assaults, street fights, motor vehicle accidents, active and past instances of muggings, missing persons searches, dangerous animal situations.

 

This year, RNSP Tech Squad units helped the community by installing and tracking technology that addressed concerns related to theft at the hands of contractors and other professionals hired to work within peoples homes.  As a result of this particular service, 11 such professionals who were captured by video surveillance stealing cash, jewelry, silver, and other valuables were arrested.

 

But there is a problem.

 

There are tremendous costs involved with keeping the RNSP successful in fulfilling its mission to respond to all calls for help with the necessary tools to perform the services we provide. From the radios that allow us to respond to all calls swiftly, to the repeaters that they run on, all the way down to the uniforms we wear and the patrol vehicles we use, we cannot serve the community without any of these.  As it stands now, many of the tools and resources that RNSP members use in their daily service are funded by the members themselves. This can cause delays in response times searching for a member who is properly equipped to handle a given call. Every member of the RNSP needs to be fully equipped for EVERY call we respond to. Lock-out kits, radios, flashlights, gas, patrol vehicles, insurances, and a mobile command center are among the most needed items that need to be funded.
